Creating Your Own Wearable Fiber Art

Calling all fiber fanatics, creative crafters or those looking for a fun hobby!

Breezy Hill Farm will be offering a half-day workshop in which we will create felted scarves using fiber from our alpacas and other fine animals. Participants will get to choose their fiber colors and embellishments, craft it into roving/batts, and then needle felt it into a finished piece of pure beauty and softness.

This workshop is suitable for anyone seeking to expand their creative horizons!  Whether this will be an introduction or a deeper delve into working with gorgeous fiber and an appreciation for soft, lovely, wearable art, you are sure to learn and have fun. Beginner-experienced crafters are welcome!

The registration fee of $125 will cover all materials, equipment, lunch, and snacks/refreshment during the workshop.

Space is limited, so be sure to reserve your spot soon!

You can visit our Meetup page to RSVP and reserve your spot.

Charm City Yarn Crawl 2018!

yarn crawl

We Say “Yarn”, You Say “Crawl”! Yarn! Crawl! Yarn Crawl!

We are thrilled to be participating in this year’s Charm City Yarn Crawl!  This is a wonderful week of exploring your local yarn suppliers, getting great discounts, and entering to win prizes!  You must purchase a Yarn Crawl tote ($15) and have it with you to receive the discounts, but believe us, it’s worth it.  The totes are available at our own Little Boutique online (for in-store pickup), or at any of the participating shops.  Fourteen different yarn stores in the area are participating, and every one of them will have great specials you won’t want to miss!

In addition to offering the yarn crawl discounts all week, we will be offering demonstration events during the weekends.

On April 8, 14, and 15, we will have demonstrations every two hours, cycling through Ravishing Roving (art batts & rolags), Spiffy Spinning (art yarn techniques), and Fabulous Felt (needle felting).  Heather can’t wait to show folks the different techniques she’s learned at various workshops during the past year!

Please note that we will not be able to offer demonstrations on Saturday, April 7.

Heather is giving a talk that Saturday with the Creative Knitters Guild in Kensington, so she won’t be on the farm to work her magic with fiber.

Please visit http://charmcityyarncrawl.com/ for all the details about the totes, the prize entry passports, and, of course, the participating shops.  We can’t wait to see you!

Meet Lord Aspro and Anjeloua, born 2 weeks ago!

Hours:  Sat. 6/29:  10am-6pm; Sun. 6/30: 11am-5pm

Summer is quickly approaching – the perfect time to get out into the country and play with the animals! Once again we are opening our farm to visitors to enjoy a very pleasant couple of hours with our alpacas, exotic breed chickens, peacocks, goats, sheep and miniature horses. We are thrilled to announce the birth of our two newest alpaca babies (cria) delivered 2 weeks ago, a real treat to see! For families, open house provides a lovely outing – both children and the grown-ups enjoy feeding the alpacas, interacting with the animals and learning a little bit about all of them. In addition, there will be arts and crafts for the kids to enjoy.

Looking for a little retail therapy? Our air-conditioned shop offers a great mix of alpaca-fiber clothing and accessories. Knitters and spinners will love our one-of-a-kind roving and yarn (made with our alpaca fiber and by local Maryland fiber mills). We also have lovely jewelry, sumptuous soaps and beautiful artwork – many items will be on sale for summer close out, so be sure to stop in!

We encourage you to make a day of it by adding a trip to the nearby “pick your own” Larriland Farm. They are located exactly 1 mile down the road from us at 2415 Woodbine Road and have lovely fruits and vegetables for picking. Feeling a bit hungry? Don’t miss the Woodbine Grill’s delicious bbq or Alex’s ice cream and snow cones, both right at the roundabout on Woodbine Road on your way to or from Larriland and Breezy Hill!

So slow down and come enjoy our lovely alpaca farm nestled in the beautifully scenic hills of Woodbine, Maryland.
